UM Social Work Department Attends Annual Mississippi Child Welfare Institute Conference

The 13th Annual Mississippi Child Welfare Institute Conference was held this year in Jackson, Mississippi on February 11-13th, 2015.

Angela Adams, LMSW, presented a session entitled “Strategies to Improve Permanency Outcomes for Children in Care”.  In her session, she identified important relationships and connections for children in foster care. She also defined concurrent planning and its relationship to timely permanency for children in care. The participants were led to understand the importance of relationship building and family involvement in child welfare. Adams is an education and training specialist for the Child Welfare Training Academy.
