Department Welcomes New Members of Phi Alpha Honors Society
The Social Work department inducted several new members to the Phi Alpha Honors Society on May 4th, 2015. The concept for the Phi Alpha Honor Society came from a group of undergraduate social work students in 1960 at Michigan State University. Today, there are over 380 chapters of Phi Alpha in existence across the country. The purpose of the Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work, and to promote humanitarian goals and ideas such as community service, volunteerism, and mentorship. Membership into Phi Alpha is offered to those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
