Dr. Gerald Mallon Visits Social Work Department

Dr. Gerald Mallon

Dr. Gerald Mallon, Julia Lathrop Professor of Child Welfare and Executive Director of the National Center for Child Welfare Excellence, gave a presentation to UM’s Social Work department on August 12th, 2014.

Mallon’s presentation, “Building and Translating Practice Knowledge and Evidence in Child Welfare Excellence,” focused on training and evidence-based practices in the field of child welfare.

Dr. Gerald Mallon has over 38 years of experience as a child welfare practitioner. He is also the Senior Editor of the journal Child Welfare. His latest publication, Child Welfare for the Twenty-First Century: A Handbook of Practices, Policies, and Programs, was published by Columbia University Press in 2014.
