Social Work
University of Mississippi

Welcome

The faculty and I are very excited that you are interested in the Social Work Program at the University of Mississippi. We offer the BSW and MSW degrees. According to the National Association of Social Workers, social work is the professional activity of helping individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations enhance or restore their social functioning and creating societal mandates favorable to that goal.  Graduates in social work are able to work in health care, schools, child welfare, long-term care, and mental health fields of practice to name a few.

Our outstanding faculty has a wide range of social work practice experiences from which to draw to enhance student learning. They also contribute regularly to the knowledge base of the profession. Faculty achievements have been recognized both nationally and locally. Faculty members have developed study abroad programs in South Africa, England, and Belize that give students the chance to experience new cultures and broaden their horizons.

Students have the opportunity to participate in the student organizations for either the undergraduate or graduate social work program.  Students can also participate in the student government activities at the University level.  I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in achieving your career goals. Please feel free to contact me for more information.

Sincerely,
