- Empowerment Committee
The Empowerment Committee is a University of Mississippi Department of Social Work social justice organization committed to the empowerment of all people, with particular attention and dedication to our most vulnerable community members. For information regarding this organization, please contact Amy Fisher, Chair of the Committee, at afisher@olemiss.edu
- Voter Empowerment
The Department of Social Work at the University of Mississippi (UM) is keenly aware of the deeply entrenched systematic barriers that prevent many individuals, families, and communities in Mississippi (MS) from achieving racial and economic equality. The Department also recognizes that even as the need for advocacy and community action on behalf of disadvantaged communities in MS is rising, this macro-level social work is a distant area of practice for many social work students. Therefore, the Department, though its Voter Empowerment Project (VEP), sponsors ongoing efforts to engage students in the racial and social justice-oriented work of empowering voters in our local communities. For more information on VEP, please contact Dr. Na Youn Lee at nlee2@olemiss.edu
